My Favorite Mod--What is yours?

I did not have a good place to put trash in my camper. For weeks I was using a Home Depot bag looped around a cabinet handle.

I found a small trash can with a lid and mounting bracket that would fit on one cabinet door under a galley counter. However, when I got it, I discovered it would not fit as the arc of the door swing would not allow clearance.

It was too late to send this back, and I thought about putting rails inside the cabinet. Suddenly a few days ago I had a brain storm. Why not move the cabinet hinges to the bottom, and use one of the two spar cabinet door struts I had to limit it's movement outward.

I glued a few pieces of plywood to the back of the door, threw away part of the mount and screwed the important part to the back of the door. In dropped the trash bin, and opening and closing it, even leaving it open for a while did not interfere with movement in the galley. I am now a happy camper. Such a simple mod, really made my day. I did most of the work on my birthday yesterday, which made it even more rewarding. I'll upload a few pictures from my phone in the next post.

I removed the trash lid. It fits OK but seems to get in the way.

The bungee cords are overkill to keep everything closed up when banging around off road. The frame show me in the last stages of gluing on reinforcement for the catch. I might remove the little nub sticking out--just to one side of the knob, simply because it does get in the way of pulling the trash bin out.

I like it, nice mod. Trash seems to always accumulate in such small spaces.

Nice idea for trash. I have three favorites...they're like kids, I can't pick just one. They would be new LED swivel lights, Fantastic Fan and solar panel. They all extended the time I can be out in my trailer without worry of draining my battery.

Nice Carl...I can see where that would be helpful. I also like the outdoor shower you recently posted.

The electric stove ignitor, the generator on the tongue, entertainment shelves and of course the awning. Of all my mods those would most likely be the tops.

The bar faucet on the galley sink. Maybe they're building them with this as the standard fixture these days, but for us, it was a mod.

Would love to see pictures of these if you have them around somewhere.

How about a picture of the swivel lights?

I have a fantastic fan with a hood. I like it, and I'm wondering if I can move it to my other vent if I install Air Conditioning. Wiring is the issue. I don't want to tear up my ceiling to move it over. My camper is wired for AC amd I'd like to have shore powered AC for this summer when I'm working on my boat. I don't want to carry a generator.

That is a gorgeous faucet. I dropped something out of a cabinet and broke my plastic faucet handle. It works, but is rather stubby at the moment. I'd like to have a good water filter system next. I'm researching them but it makes my head hurt.
