Neato Water Heater Upfit

Saw this cool mod elsewhere that results in adjustability of water temps on a gas-only Suburban water heater. Loved the opening disclaimer, which I'll reproduce in its entirety here:

First-- *** disclaimer ***

I am an electrical engineer. If you do not have COMPLETE confidence in your wiring ability, DO NOT DO THIS as you can cause serious damage to you, your TC, your insurance rates, and your liquor stash.
Got that?

O.K., then- for those of you that qualify, here's the link to the instructions.

Reminds me of a friend who hit an obstruction on a yacht delivery. He and his girl friend stopped, anchored and drank a fifth of scotch to calm themselves down. If a wave hadn't lifted him up a bit they would have died right their instead of peeling a foot of lead off the keel.

Isn't that a mod for the electric heating element in a Gas/Electric water heater?

For those who missed it, I'll here quote line three of the original instructional post I linked to:

Also---if you have gas AND 110v heater elements, this won't work. You won't have room.

Sorta hard to imagine the point in arguing with that assertion without looking at the plainly offered underlying proof of its validity.

Slow Saturday morning, or what?
