New 1975 Trillium Owner! Flooring question.

Hello All,
So happy to be a part of the Trillium family now
I bought my trillium with the flooring already ripped out. Looks like bare fiberglass to me. I want to put new flooring in, thinking allure or cork. Want i need to know is if I need to but in a sub floor first or can I lay it right on the fiberglass? Thanks

Just my opinion..
I don't know that a subfloor is necessary. The fibreglass bottom on the trillium does have some flex, but is directly supported by the frame. I don't think a subfloor would eliminate that flex (it might stiffen it a bit), but the flooring is pretty robust and should handle the flex no problem, and at least as well as the subfloor. If you are worried, you might use the Allure Vinyl flooring as many of the contributors here have.

Lyndsay, there is no need for any underlayment. I put a glue down cork in my own trailer, and love it. For the Trillium 1300 I am rebuilding, I am thinking we will use Allure.

What's your rationale for switching from cork to Allure?

Not switching, love the cork, and would do it in my own trailer again in a heartbeat. Just likely doing the Allure in my daughters trailer.

OK, I'll guess. The Allure is a lot easier and faster to install than the cork.

Lordy knows I have been, and will be, putting A LOT of time into this trailer as it is.

Mind if I ask what that trim is on the floor? I have been looking for trim ideas for an allure floor.

Hey Greg,


It is a plastic clip that is available in 6 foot lengths. I got them from Home Depot. Not sure exactly what they are designed for but the size was perfect to fit on the edges of the flooring. I mitered all the corners and it turned out really well. Super clean and looks professional.

I installed "Allure" last year in our Trillium, very appreciated.
Easy installation, gives a beautiful style.
There is a good choice of colors.

I am new here also and have a 1974 Trillium 1300 with the rug ripped out and not to much glue left over. What I saw on Pinterest was a floor done with cork, it looked amazing. Thats the application that I will be using because of the warmth it will give the floor. As a child my parents office had a tile cork floor it was so warm and rich looking. Good luck. Please post some pics

I'm still debating between cork and allure. I like the look of both. Still need to get her all cleaned up and cleaned out before I seriously contemplate the flooring

Yes it is flexible and easy to work with.

Anyone have pics of their Allure install? I think this is what I want to do with my Olive a 1973 Trillium 1300 (testing out the name I'm extremely picky though and not sure I want to risk attempting this myself.

If you like, we could view my Escape that I did the cork in too. It is just 5 minutes away from my place in West Hillhurst. Here is a link to the thread I created on doing it. It could be done a lot easier in the Trillium 1300 though.
