new flooring for Burro
Finally finished the new floor for the Burro. I tore out the old carpet (fortunately not attached), and found bare fiberglass underneath. Since it was very uneven, I made a pattern out of heavy paper of the floor and used it to make a subfloor out of 1/4 inch plywood. Screwed down the plywood adjacent to the walls, then installed Allure Ultra. There were a few spots where the planks wouldn't snap together closely for love or money. I found an acrylic filler for laminate repair at Home Depot, and matched it to the Allure. Looks great. Glued plastic moulding around the perimeter, then caulked. I have installed vinyl planks in 2 boats, and after this project never again. I'm not as young anymore, and even though this job was straightforward, it's tough on bad backs and arthritic hands.
Now considering wood veneer skins for the cabinets.

Good job. I put Allure in a trailer I had a few years back, and was very happy with the results.

Well done! I had wanted to do something like what you did, or even just vinyl flooring. But it seemed like so much work to get a smooth flat surface for the base that I just removed and hosed out the carpeting and reinstalled.

Looks great. I want to do my scamp. Thanks for the motivation!!
Is it totally a "floating" floor or is it attached in some way to the sub floor?
Thx

new flooring
As far as weight, I don't know. The boxes of flooring were quite heavy and I used 2 1/2 boxes. Check it out at Home Depot. My Tundra has no problem towing it, and I got 13.6 mpg on the last trip. Empty weight prior to floor was 2000 lbs.
The floor is floating-just laid it on top of the plywood. It wasn't that difficult a job-just have sore hands and back afterwards. I am a 62 year old woman-you guys shouldn't have any problem with this project.
Thanks- compliments are always appreciated.

Looks like each 36" piece is a little over 5#. Eight pieces per box, so 40#/ box x 2 1/2 boxes is about 100#.

Gail, you've found the big floor problem with the vertical seamed all molded trailers... uneven floors. I'm glad you found a solution that works for you., and the floor looks great! Please let us know if the caulk becomes problematic.

Beautiful! I was going to install carpeting in my FiberStream and decided against it- with traffic coming in and put of the fgrv, it would be easier to sweep up the mess and put down some thtow rugs. Great job!

Very nice! I wonder if that would work on our Uhaul.
I posted a description and pix of our kitchen cabinet (house, not trailer) project under "fools rush in..." if it helps.

They sell a great indoor/outdoor carpeting at lowes that I plan to put down over my laminate flooring. Great patterns and you can just take it out whenever. Vacuum it Or or even hose it off, dry in the sun ,Put it in and voila you're done! Good as new

I still have the carpet that the PO put in mine. The UH floor has a definite 'hump' all down the center front to back, fromt the seam that joins the two hulls together. I don't have a belly band, but I have an uneven floor as a result. It seems like my only option is a sheet flooring.

I'm curious about how the filler holds up too. I bought my little 13 ft. Burro with bamboo snap planks and there is some gapping. If the fill holds in yours I'll add it to mine. I still need to add the trim. That is next.

Thank you-
I will see how the filler holds up after mopping/wear and tear and keep you updated.
