I ordered these doors online for the Scamp. They are Red Oak and I sealed and put knobs on at home. I really like the new look and not much difference in weight from the originals.

Wasn't sure if I could post that information.
It was Cabinet Door Mart and total was $200 to an address in the States (For other Canadians who want to pick up in the States there were some challenges paying online but I called and they were very helpful) That was including the extra front and back upper cabinets so 10 pieces which I didn't think was bad as they make me smile everytime I visit the Scamp.

When I buy off a US shop and want to have it shipped to a US address that isnt mine phoning has always worked best. They are more comfortable talking to you regards why the cc address doesnt match your address.

Carol - Yes free shipping, I think there is a minimum order to get that and yes custom sizes. On some of the Scamp doors like the closet one I was able to reduce the length a little as it is quite long compared to the actual hole on the 13's.

Yes, it can be an adventure on some sites as a Canadian!

I'm a bit surprised you couldn't find a Canadian manufacturer to make these for you. It would definately help with all the border BS.

Your right there probable is someone who makes them in Canada & I was going to check around but the prices are often a lot higher.

Well the border really isnt an issue as we are allowed to bring so many dollars worth of goods back without paying duty. But most US web based biz only ship free to the US and charge crazy prices for shipping to Canada - you would think they were shipping to Europe

so when buying online from a US company its just easier to have it shipped to someone you know who lives close to the border and pick it up from them or have them bring it up on their next visit. The only problem comes sometimes if their software picks up on the fact that your credit card address is different from the shipping address sometimes the website will kick the order back but normally it just takes a phone call to sort it out - the company just wants to confirm its not a stolen credit card.

Yes, for me being in a rural area it is rare to find much at a comparable price in Canada. Shipping here is a killer and most of the cabinet places near me all get their doors from the States and then of course have to add a mark up, too bad though as I would like to buy local.

Love the new doors and drawer fronts!

I ended up painting mine. They didn't need it, but I just didn't like the fake wood look.

Those doors do look very nice. There are lots of places to order doors in Canada, I do it all the time for work. I really doubt, even as a contractor, that I could get all 8 pieces for that price though.

When I did my Trillium I happened upon a yard sale from a guy who used to have a cabinet refacing company. He literally had hundreds of leftover samples. I bought all I could of the same wood (oak) and same stain (light) for $1.00 each. I was kinda able to make them work but would have much rather just ordered what I needed. I tried taking some apart to cut down to the perfect size but without "professional" mitre the results were eh at best.

My local IKEA store just had about 50 solid wood cabinet doors and matching drawer fronts in the "As-Is" department for $1.50 to $4.00 each. Never can tell what you will find at IKEA.

Those are very nice doors. I thought about making rail & style panel doors, but opted for 1/2 solid maple, then decorated with my own woodburning. I included some color also.

Thanks for sharing! Our '81 Casita's doors are kinda warpy particle board, so we've talked of painting or replacing. Good to see pics of other options, and really appreciate listing the cost and place to order them from! Did you re-use the original hinges or replace those, too?
