Thanks guys. I assumed that was the case, but I wasn't sure. I can't justify the money on it then, I'll just order a stainless one.

I just ordered this microwave:

Wow! a retro "look" microwave. Much better than an actual original retro microwave LOL! I had one of those behemoths and I'm not sure it would fit one of these little campers.

This one looks really cool though!

I like this idea! It would look sharp....give you a nice mirror and save some money for other good stuff.

I'm going to scream. I have spent 5 hours now on wiring two tail lights.

First, god bless the chinese, you can't match the wire colors from the trailer harness to the lights...you have to mismatch them. They did all sorts of weird things. I finally cut the lights out of the harness, and tested them with a battery to figure out what was what.

So, I rewired it all, heatshrunk and everything (again). No worky. Can't figure it out. Tear it all apart, lights test fine again, check harness, no power. I finally found a trailer light fuse in the engine compartment of the truck that was blown. I didn't have mini fuses on hand, so I ran to get a new one, and replaced it.

So, starting to learn, I decided to hook the lights up with my test wires with alligator clips...they don't work. ARRGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!

Check lights with battery, still work. Harness has power now. I finally ohm out the test leads, and find one with high resistance. Put the alligator clips on a new piece of wire...they finally work.

Dear god. Now I just have to wire them back in...with mismatched colors. Green on harness (tail) goes to black on the lights. White on the harness (ground) goes to green on the lights. stupid me figured green-green, camper ground white to light ground black as automotive uses black for ground.

I might need to get beer before this is over.

Sounds tough, but:

I don't think you'll find ANY replacement taillights with "trailer wiring colors", even if there was some standard for that, which there isn't.

Every such light I've ever seen that comes with any wires attached at all have black and white (and sometimes a green for ground) - no matter what the Country of Origin.

There is a standard, but the trailer doesn't follow it. I didn't realize that at first.

I've replaced many trailer lights for leds, all were a direct color match (before this).

Then again, I had also rewired them, and I didn't do the scamp. In retrospect, it wouldn't have taken any longer if I had.

This is how it should be:

On the scamp, red is left, brown is right, green is tail, yellow is backup, what a mess.

Well I pretty well went through all the doing and undoing as you did to get my LED taillights working even though the party I purchased them from did give me some suggests on how the wiring should match up.... of course it didnt work out as suggested! That would have been way to easy and not nearly as gratifying once I actually got them connected up correctly. You got'er done so go sit back and enjoy a cold one Jared!

Yup this is from my Scamps Manual:

Seven pin connector
Green (TM) - Tail Lights and Marker Lights
Red (LT)- Left Turn and Brake Light
Brown (RT) Right turn and Brake Light
Black (S) Interior 12 volt lights and Accessories
White (GD) Ground
Yellow (A) Brake Lights (Foreign Stop) or Backup Lights
Blue (Large connector only) Electric Brakes

Which matches up with the Scamp wiring diagram in the Documents center on this forum.

Scamp uses the Bargman wiring code. This is the standard wiring color code for the 7 pin RV plugs. As you found out already it's not the white, brown, yellow, green code used on the flat four pin plugs. If you buy a molded 7 pin pigtail it will be wired using these color wires.

If there's a "standard" for trailer 12v wiring, either Scamp or E-trailer (see below) has it wrong. Which is it?

Not that it matters in this case- the trouble came in because the taillights Jared was wiring had a black wire, which in no case has anything to do with lights on a trailer.
