New UHaul VT Decals Finished

I've finally finished putting the new UHaul decals on our 1986 VT. The sides and rear are in the original style, but with saphire blue and white stripes replacing the original beige and black. We wanted the stripes to match the blue frame, bumper, and screenhouse that we own. The front decal is one that we created and doesn't match the original Vacation Adventure decal that came on these trailers. We wanted people to clearly know that this is a UHaul from any side. It's nice having this done, since it took so much work to get the old, faded, and painted-over decals off and stripping the trailer finish down to the gel coat. Red Max Pro is now covering a clean trailer and Goosler did a great job of printing the decals for us!

Ok, it is a UHaul...so where can I rent one too. GREAT work ! it looks wonderful! Now don't be surprised when someone ask you where you rented it. I sure like the blue strip as it does seem to bring it all together, something old and something new....good thinking on your part.

Great work ....Happy Camping

Lynn,

If I had 10.00 for every time we hear the phrase, "I did not know Uhaul rented campers," we could pay for the renos with it. A couple of times. we have been asked where a camper like ours can be rented.

Of course, we have a Uhaul neon sign that also adds to it. Someone thought that the sign meant we were advertising OUR Uhaul for rent.

Really looks nice. It's funny I sometimes explain my scamp as being "like those campers U-Haul used to rent" above a certain age many people remember those who never heard of scamp.

CindyL .....I know what you mean......I don't have an egg right now,but in the past we had a camper that was not seen very often at the time( it was a new Chalet Alpine, you know looked like a-liner does now).....I would tell DH and our girls....If we had a nickle for everyone that wanted to see the inside we would have paid for this trip already and started on the next one...Ha! Ha! Sometimes I wish we still had it,though.

Happy Camping ...your girl looks great...did you give it a name yet?

@ Lynn,

We call the camper "Howie," for hotel on wheels. We have been more places since we got it than ever in our lives. No more do we ask one another, "Can we afford a vacation?" We ask, "Where are we going this year?"

Looks really nice Kevin! I'm jealous.

Any particular type of paint you used on your bumper? Mine could use a touch up and I also need to paint my rims.

Curious question for you about the tire cover. Where Can I get one of those! I figure I'll have to find a black one for mine.

@ Sean,

Here is where the tire cover came from: Sparky's Vee-Dub Repair & Threads To Treads. It was custom-made as a Christmas present to Kevin.

Thx Cindy. I already have a design in mind. Will have to put this on my birthday wish list.

The bumper and frame paint is just a good quality spray paint from Menards. I masked off over-spray areas and went at it. Our bumper was looking shabby (had been previously painted flat black) so I went with a high gloss blue to match our screen house, chairs, etc. The paint has a rust inhibitor in it because I used it on the frame, too. (I know the bumper is aluminum!)
