I know that Boler sold US manufacturing rights to an outfit in Kansas in '71, and that Scamp began in '71. Any chance hers was built in the US and sent back to Canada?

Does anyone have an explanation for the disparity in the design?

Curious minds want to know...
Hi Robert,

I believe Boler started using the recessed taillights in late 71 or 72. There were quite a few changes in those early years. My trailer is either a 70 or 71 (I'm not actually sure though the registration does say 71) and it was definitely built in Canada. I have the scamp style lights as Kathy does but I don't have a bumper like hers. My frame ends under the shell with a crossmember there rather than extending behind it and using the bumper as a crossmember.

I found pictures of a 1971 13' Boler in the sold archives.... humm frenched tail lights on the archived one... wonder if Kathleen's was built in a different factory? http://www.fiberglassrv.com/forums/f...ler-37844.html Whatever and it certainly doesn't matter. The Egg Plan will do a spectacular makeover, however much you want done Kathleen

I have a 1970 without frenched taillights that was built in Manitoba and I once had a 1972 built in Alberta that didn't have frenched tail lights either

Picking a final color

Trying to make a final decision on my Boler color. Here are some options I have been playing with (Photoshop style - that is actually my tow vehicle). Thoughts? Other recommendations?

Green is a favorite color of mine-gotta put that out front.

The upper left w/ the color going to the belly band is my favorite-is it heresy to two tone the door? There is a scamp on the fiberglass RV4sale site two toned in a deep burgundy that is pretty sharp. My two cents worth.

Hi Robert,

As a few others have indicated, early Bolers do not have the recessed tail lights. My '71 manufactured in Winnipeg by Boler does not either. Unlike RussL's, my frame does extend into the classic curved Boler rear bumper.

A couple of other differences I've noticed between mine and post '72 Bolers:
  • My floor is bare 5/8" plywood, it is not fiberglassed
  • My frame is made from quite thin C-channel, it is not boxed.
  • The water tank filler is on the curbside
  • There's no window over the cooktop.
The thin frame started me down my restoration path - the axle needed replacing, so I removed the body from the frame. The back half to the frame was twisted. Thick reinforcements had been welded in quite a few places by previous owners, but the frame cracked beside most of the reinforcements. I am getting a new frame made.

MHO only. I'd paint white and put on some great graphics. This is one of my favorites.

Decals and a small amount of paint color is far cheaper to replace than an entire trailer paint job... and you can change it when/if you change tugs. Going back to original color is meaningless unless you really, really like the color. Most trailers are white anyway.

I like them all. My only suggestion would be to tu-tone the door to match the body. I realize that there might need to be a painted "pinstripe" on the door but that could easily be done. Even a stripe on the door in 'silver" as close as possible to the color of the belly band to break up the two colors would look good. Leaving the door one color, IMHO, breaks ups the trailer lines too much. Ron

Ours is originall colour as in Deluxe but has a reflective silver strip/band
I can’t seem to open the document. Is there any way you could send it to me? I want to repaint this year and this would be amazing to review. Would love to keep the original look. ❤️

It's because you quoted something from 11 years ago. That website seems to have died. Maybe you'll find what you need in the Boler Brand Document Center. Most documents are PDFs with an occasional JPG. Note there are two pages: https://www.fiberglassrv.com/forums/...p?do=cat&id=23

I love the first one! I’m not sure what the original Boler colors were. I just bought a 1972 Boler American .. I’m looking to paint it, but I want it an original color.
