original Scamp curtain

I have been told by a few of my camping buddies, that they can see me at night while I am dressing or undressing. I do have the curtains closed, but they seem to be mighty thin.. I would love to have blinds but hate to make the extra holes. Don't suggest dressing in the dark as I have tried that as well.... well, almost dark, the tv was on..... Has anyone had this comment or situation or perhaps just learning about it now????

I imagine any time you have thin curtains which are not lined, and you dress
between them and the light, you risk entertaining the neighbours.
I can't say I have had it mentioned to me, but I'm sure I would have noticed
the screams of horror and the sounds of rapidly disappearing feet.

Curtains

Personally, I would make new curtains and line them. They make a 'room darkening' lining for drapery. That won't let light in or out and sould do the trick.

I just lined mine with regular fabric...guess I should go out and check. :o

I think just lining them will work, but it doesn't hurt to check.

but then how do you check? turn the light on and run outside and see if you can see yourself. :nope don't think that will work. guess you will need a helper.

I did the lining

:wave
I made new curtains and bought the liner for them.
I camp in desert where not only does the liner keep light in or out, it is also a tremendous insulator for winter or summer. In hot weather or bright sun they keep egg actually cool inside

You will NOT regret lining them. You can see them in this photo<img src=http://www.fiberglassrv.com/board/uploads/3ee7b27d9e50aPaint_rack.jpg/>

I found the curtain fabric for $1.98 a yard, and the liner cost me $16/yard. Almost didn't buy, but did the math and that meant that I would add $4 to price of each curtain totalling $5 each. I figured that for $40 for all my curtains the cost wasn't prohibitive.

The stuff is really cool. One layer is the pretty white side that you see up against the window, another layer is a vapor barrier, another layer is space-blanket mylar, and the last layer is cotton batting. Makes a totally opaque, highly insulated curtain. Made one for roof vent too.

I can close them off in the brightest sun and it is totally dark and cool inside.

If you're thinking about it, do it. You'll be very pleased.

original Scamp curtains

Tom,
I just love the picture of your camper, it is the cuties one I've seen. Thanks so much for the suggestion. I did look at some fabric liner, it was in Walmart for $25.00 a package. I have no idea how much is in the package. I will go back to Walmart and look. I will also call the local Jo-Anne Fabric store and see if they have the liner. The curains with the Scamp are eggshell color and probably would need to be dry cleaned. I could make new curtains with the liner as you suggested, all I need now is the time...lol Thanks for sharing, I keep looking at the picture, so cute... Julie
