We painted our trailer with Rustoleum Marine Enamel (white) and a hot-dog roller (one thin layer after another, first of white marine enamel primer and then marine topside paint) and it came out fine, not glossy, but a muted sheen--we sanded with finer and finer sandpaper until we had the surface perfectly smooth--AFTER patching all holes and removing everything that could be removed, like belly band aluminum,
windows, etc...there are great threads if you go to "Search" and look for them, some have pictures...also great videos on YouTube about
painting, let's say, boats...
I have a question for you: what is green rust? I'm not being facetious, never heard of it. Even, "green rust paint"--again, is that a green enamel paint that's supposed to inhibit rust? Like
fiberglass rusts? Auto paint is not the worst choice you can make for these, but we felt a marine enamel (not a two-part paint, but those can be wonderful)...would do best on
fiberglass that will flex somewhat under use and will get a lot of UV rays.
