A few pics. First is stainless 5/16" X 3/4" fine thread fasteners for the battery cover. I drilled and tapped the holes in the frame for them. Stainless flat and lock washers as well. Makes it much easier to get to the batteries.



Next is a pic of my new wheels...



Last is my new step. White sand on top with the final coat of paint.



Gotta run. Going camping.

Gee, thanks for reminding me I still need to build my new step. Nice call on the fine thread bolts. That is a something I often forget but necessary on thin metal (11 gauge) like the frame material of our eggs.

I really like your battery modification. Think an average bloke could do it?

John, which battery mod do ya mean? The box and cover was done at the factory. The cover was mounted like nobody at ParkLiner knows how to level stuff, that's what got me going originally. I like stuff to look good, meaning level. I drilled and tapped for 5/16 fine to level the cover. Using regular bolts sure makes it a lot easier to get at those batteries!

The external posts were a bit more of an effort, but suffice it to say I didn't have to run out and buy anything to mount those. I had the tools and scrap aluminum angle around to do it, plus all the 10 gauge wire I needed.

Yup, the external posts. Not sure I have the right drill(s) to penetrate the frame.

Did not penetrate the frame for the posts John, made the holes in some scrap aluminum I had around. Used a big step drill bit I got at Harbor Freight (Titanium Nitride Coated High Speed Steel Step Drill Bit Set 2 Pc) for that. To mount the aluminum angle to the frame, I used a couple of the self tapping metal screws I took out of the battery cover.

Gee, thanks Jim, but I can assure you, new wheels or new tires, I always get them balanced. Nothing different with these!

Tire shops that know what they're doing put those ugly lead wheel weights on the back side of fancy custom rims - out of sight so as not to distract from the pretty sparkle and shine you've paid extra for! We put very similar bright aluminum rims on our all-aluminum Xtreme boat trailer. Love the look!
