plastic plywood

has anybody ever used plastic plywood to resheet the floor?
its about 30% heavier but will never rot, any thoughts?

30% heavier and wimblywambly-needs more support not to sag. Too many rv manufacturers use OSB which is worse than plywood for decomposing and supporting loads, I would lean towards a good quality exterior ply or marine grade or even pressure treated if you can find it and are worried about it coming apart. Seal every thing real well and w/ no leaks you shouldn't have to worry.IMHO

As it's recycled, that probably means limited control over which plastics go into it - and some, like polypropylene, can be almost impossible to get a good bond to, so preventing the floor from being laminated into place.

Chalet has been using something like that on their A-frame popup trailers for close to a decade now, I believe. I wish more manufacturers would use a no-rot subfloor material, it seems like it would save some problems later on.

I would use (Min 3/4 inch) pressure treated ply, coat the bottom side with truckbed coating and put linoleum on the top side to keep the treated material away from the occupants.

My UHaul has a plywood floor with fiberglass laminated to top and bottom. Lot of work, but no rotten spots after 27 years.

There is also a rot-proof, lightweight product which will also take a lot of weight out your wallet! It is the aluminum honeycomb materials used for floors in commercial aircraft.

Before Boeing closed their (open to the public) surplus store in the Seattle area, I used to get sheets of it there for strong, light, well-insulated floors in hotrods. The open spaces in the honeycomb was filled with an insulating foam of some sort. Incredibly rigid, very strong ultra light, and both heat and sound insulating.

Look for a product called Starboard. We use it for hatch covers on the fish boats. Plenty stong. Easy to cut or rout.
