Might be good to add this to our running list of Trailer Weights in the Real World. Interesting that what is considered the 'lightweight' among FG trailers, is actually on par with the rest of the small campers. It doesn't appear that you've added anything to it of a 'weighty' nature?

In this remodel the Compact Jr. gained 300 pounds overall.
  • I replaced the 3/4" plywood topped with sheet vinyl floor with 1/2" plywood topped with FRP.
  • I replaced a simple 2-door base cabinet with a cabinet that has 1 door and 3 drawers. Solid Drawer weight can add up.
  • I added a propane bottle, 3-way fridge, tankless water heater, 2 burner stove, 12 volt water pump, sink, shower pan, and all the associated plumbing. (both water and propane)
  • I added the hanging clothes cabinet / fridge cabinet. That whole area across from the base cabinet with sink used to be for the porta-potty alone.

At 1700 pounds it is too heavy for the Pontiac Vibe to tow. But it is half the weight of the Fiber Stream, and will be easier for the Honda Odyssey to tow.

I'll have to take better pictures this weekend when I take it on a trip from San Diego to Phoenix. (Out of the frying pan and into the fire...)

The dinette table.
The leg folds up and the table swings down and unfolds to bridge the center between the bunk seats. (note the hinges on the front edge of the table in the first picture)

Ahh! I saw those big legs and thought they were attached to something that slid out from each side. With your help, I looked more closely and realize that you provided yourself with some handy, easily accessed storage area. How very clever!
I will be stealing some of your ideas while rebuilding my C-II. Thank you.

Making the fronts of the benches solid visually confines the space. I have trouble lifting long cushions to access that underneath space from the top.
Making the benches fixed shelves with open fronts solved both problems for me.

The cushions are covered with Blue Denim.
The table top is covered in Blue Naugahyde.

We have added a shelf over the front window for increased storage. The lip kept the items in place, even after some over-steering avoidance maneuvers. The gray bag on the left holds the 2-burner stove. A small suitcase fits in the center. The yellow block is the 12 volt outlet that is charging my cell phone, and on the right is the Endless Breeze fan that goes in the front screen window of the pop-up area.

I have read over the years that many people with 13' trailers prefer to cook outside. The only thing we want to make indoors is coffee, so there is room on the counter for a coffeemaker.

The Compact Jr. is a good match for our Honda Odyssey.

I decided we needed air conditioning. A friend gave me a used portable air conditioner, but it's so big... then I got the idea to think outside the box! I went to Home Depot's plumbing & heating section and found all of the parts I needed to make this work. The Chimney vents the hot outside exhaust away from the cool outside intake. In operation the metal becomes too hot to touch, thus the reflectix wrap. Reflectix is also placed inside the top's canvass with the screens zipped closed, when you want a barrier and not ventilation. The air conditioner (and it's vents) ride inside the trailer bungied to the center bunk legs.
We did not need it on Thursday or Friday, but on Saturday it was over 90° outside. Inside the trailer stayed 65° with the A/C running.
