Project Boomerang
Sometimes it takes a long time...
http://www.fiberglassrv.com/forums/f...-jr-49049.html project got started in November of 2011. I cannot believe it has been over 2-1/2 years!
After focusing on my house remodel, I am back to work on the Compact Jr. In review this is what I've been doing:
BEFORE. Bought back a trailer I had owned before.
Stripped it down to just fiberglass and metal.
Worked on the frame.
Finished the undercarriage. - New axle with brakes
- Powdercoated wheels
- New Baby Moon Hubcaps
- New tires
- added a framework to drop the floor in the old kitchen
- New paint
- New tongue jack
- Propane bottle.
Disassembled and rebuilt the entry door.

Now to work on the fiberglass!
Mold 2 fiberglass pieces in a $0.99 cake pan.
Measure, Mark, and cut holes in the back of the trailer.
Push the new 8" in diameter pieces out from the inside, aligning the flat surface vertically.
5/8" reveal at the top, 1-1/8" reveal at the bottom
1st coat of primer. Needs to be sanded with 200 grit
Reverse-French mounts for 7" round tail lights

Now I have the whole main body in primer.
I have become a little annoyed. I had decided to paint the trailer turquoise, but EVERY picture of a recently redone trailer I have seen on the vintage sites is either turquoise, teal, or aqua. I want mine to be different and unique (which is why I've chosen 7" round tail lights instead of the rectangular ones it came with).

How about Neapolitan? Like a brick of ice cream.

You have those "too cool" wheels in red. Maybe Red on the bottom and white on the top?

THAT brings back memories...
I haven't seen ice cream "bricks" in years! It's all sold in cylinder cartons with lids here, that you need a scoop for... Mom used to slice up the Neapolitan bricks with a huge butcher knife. Ten members in my family divided up a whole brick between us.

I sent the original wheels out to San Diego Powder & Protective Coatings. They sandblasted them and powder-coated the RED finish on.
I got the baby moons from HubcapMike.com.

I'm a member of several vintage sites, and I must admit that turquoise is the "go to color". I'm not putting it down, but it would be the last choice for me because it has become so common.
Love that red !! What about two tone, red and a cream color (not bright white). Or a creamy white background with red, and turquoise graphics?

Bronze or gold... or both together. But it might look odd with the red wheels.
Actually, does anyone remember the red/orange/yellow color combo that was popular in the mid '80s? I put some on my pickup back then. Solid red on the trailer with some accent color stripes would look good.
Or maybe some of this stuff, from the boating section: Crestliner 4673 Strp 1540 Yellow Orange Red 3 in Boat Pinstripe | eBay

Actually, because I collect Flamingos to decorate my campsite with, this color popped out at me: Flamingo Orange.

I vote for Pam's red and cream color scheme. I always like the two-tone Bolers. Those wheels are killer too! Have fun with it.

Pink is often viewed as feminine. If you paint it pink, you'll probably have a bunch of people thinking that you have a wife who picked that color and made you use it! Little would they suspect...

I chose them on recommendation from a co-worker at the scale company who had her Toyota Camry painted there. She just dropped it off and they fixed everything that needed fixing before they repainted it the same as the original color.
On the other hand I did all of the trailer's major fiberglass repair myself. I "rattle-can" spray painted 2 coats of primer and masked all of the frame that was not to be painted. When I delivered the trailer to them I removed the tires & wheels and bolted a pair of casters to the bottom of the leaf springs, so they could spray the inside of the wheel wells. They did fix a few minor spots that I missed before their final sanding before they did their painting.
I paid about half of what my co-worker did.
