Question of second battery's interior placement

I recently purchased a 1988 bigfoot 19' travel trailer. While remodeling I discovered an additional battery space under the FWD dinette storage. A power cord terminating in both a positive and negative battery connection plugged into a female receptacle ( I expect to be the shore power connector).

I was wondering what a setup like this is used for as I have a battery mounted on the trailer tongue? No to mention the dangers of storing a battery inside the trailer.

I'd appreciate any advice or help offered.

Pictures would make visualizing it much easier. The only thing I could think of would be an option to relocate the battery to prevent theft. If you have voltage tester I would see if there is power at the leads and try to trace them back.

Jordo, In my Campster I found a good place for my battery next to the wheel well.
I will try and attach a photo.....last time photo transfer did NOT work.

There are advantages to having the battery inside. For one thing, it is kept warmer and that significantly improves performance in cold weather. A lead acid battery stored inside should be in a sealed box with exterior venting so that corrosive and explosive gasses are kept out of the trailer. Dry cell batteries like the Optima can be kept in a non-vented box.

That's not the battery location for the trailer brake break away system?
