In my mind, putting a nice, real-wood veneer over the stock MDF door is a lipstick-on-a-pig thing. If I just wanted an quick and easy spruce-up, I'd use
paint. If I wanted an upscale, natural-wood look I'd make new doors from a cabinet-grade, hardwood-veneer plywood.
I was debating somewhat the same thing recently and Google-searched "Scamp cabinet doors" on this site. There are some creative people and great ideas floating around this forum!
