Removal of fan forced heater

I have a 1980 4500 with the fan heater under the table/bed that is a pain to get at. I would like to move it but can't get it to come away from the outlet that is riveted to the outer wall. It seems to slide as if it is a sleeve fit. I'm reluctant to drill out the rivets.
I'm thinking of putting it either under the closet (above the wheel well) or under the front seat by the door.
Has anyone had any experience with this?
