Replace Furnace with A/C Unit?

Hi, I have a 1974 Hunter Compact II. I would like to replace the furnace with an A/C unit. If anyone has any ideas or has done this I would love to hear about it. Thanks.

In the case of my Scamp, the A/C unit would have a much larger footprint than the furnace. No direct swap due to size. YMMV

You brought up an interesting thought as I was going to mount my AC in the closet and then the furnace in the galley area. If one were dry docked all the time has anyone put in the AC/Heat combos that Motel 5 1/2s are famous for? That would free up the galley area for something else.
