Replacing group 24 with group 31 battery

In case anyone is wondering, it will fit a scamp 13, but just barely. I had to move the propane tank forward as much as it will go and make some L brackets to be able to move the battery forward about an inch as well.

I wanted a little more capacity without having to go with golf cart batteries. This group 31 with 105ah should be perfect for my use, eventually i will also add a 100 watt portable solar panel.

Nice mod Dave. The extra energy will be nice to have.

And you will love solar when you get to it.

Thanks John, i have a lot more on my list, but i'm leaving for our first trip with the scamp this Friday and time is not on my side. It will be a heck of a 5000 mile shake down run lol. I just finished repacking the bearings shortly after doing the battery mod, it was surprisingly simple with the dexter easy lube axle.

Can you share specifics on the battery model and make, Dave?

I am just starting all new wiring and battery installation on my (new to me at the end of January) 83' 13' Scamp now. I have been following several discussions here and on some of the Facebook chit chats about using two 6 Volt golf cart batteries, but the electrician doing my work said he feels that is overkill for my needs. I tend to agree, but have not yet decided on which alternative battery ...

Thanks!
