replacing the belly band

I have a 1987 F20 Bigfoot. The screws on the band are so rusted that they cannot be removed other than drilling them out. The inside wood is either rotted or delaminated. Has anyone glassed over the seam?

I remember reading a thread on here where they do just that. I searched a bit but couldn't find it. However, I did find this thread where they do the same thing. http://www.fiberglassrv.com/forums/f...tml#post408227

Leonard, in post #18 of the thread below (click on link below) is a diagram of the poster's Lil Bigfoot belly band construction. That diagram and other Bigfoot posts lead me to believe the belly band screws screwed into plywood strips inside hold the top of the Bigfoot to the bottom. EDIT: In post #21 of same thread, owner indicated the top shell shifted DOWN when all screws were removed. If this is true, better to replace the screws ONE AT A TIME!

Good luck!

Thanks John for the info. It is what I was afraid of. I guess the answer is go slow, and do one at a time. Thanks again
