replacing the upper bunk

Hi...I am new to this forum and am looking for some help. We have a 1986 13 Ft. scamp and need to replace the upper bunk. Does anyone have any suggestions how we can do this? The board that is fiberglassed into the camper is rotten, previous owner had a window leak. Is there a way to do this with wood and screw this from the outside? Thanks in advance. Jojo

Do you absolutely need to have that bunk? My 84 was missing it and I didn't even consider replacing it. There is a lot more room on the gaucho without it when it is not being used as a bunk- and it gave me the opportunity to extend the counter space all the way across.

Just a thought.

1. Read this link about how another member did this job. I remembered that he called it a "couch" and searched for that word.

2. You might not get the strength of support you need that way. My "Optional Child's Bunk" in my Fiber Stream is attached that way, but it is attached from the front and both sides as a permanent "shelf."
