A week ago I purchased a 77
Amerigo slide in camper to fix and shine up for re-sale.
During the scrubbing of all the mold and grime that was all over the camper and some obvious signs inside of a leak in roof somewhere I then resolved to cut out a section of ceiling and take down some insulation to find the leak.
Due to the slant in the roof at this part of the camper it had to be the vent over the
Fridge cubby that was leaking.
Sure enough after takeing down one of the screws that went through the
fiberglass was dripping water.
I cleaned silicone off and took some of the calking out from under flange with razor knive
Cleaned real good with water and jamed some plumbers putty into the crack then applied a generous bead of silicone over this.
I now know that while getting on roof to clean and inspect had forced the
fiberglass shell down and there being a space fo about 1 inch between the shell and the inside wood frame that holds the ceiling up was compressed and a screw holding the vent in place was being pushed up.
I still need to get up there to install new exit hatch cover but will keep clear of this area.
