Retractable step on a 13 foot Scamp

I am thinking of adding a retractable step to my 13 foot Scamp. Sometimes on sloped sites the step down gets pretty long, especially since I lifted the trailer 3 inches. Does anyone know if the frame will accept a traditional fold-away step?

Many thanks, john

the doorway frame area on the 13 is the same as the 16 which commonly has a standard retractable step installed as an option, so it is doable... However, a Scamp13 does not have the same ground clearance and it may be very risky to install one due to road obstacles such as minor potholes and driveways.
My advice is to measure twice, think twice, then discard the idea.

We prefer to carry a separate wood step, it's larger so easier for entering and exiting the trailer. We place it just inside the trailer door when traveling, upside down, with the chocks, leveling blocks, and stabilizer bar in it

Nice idea. That frees up stoarge in the back of the car. Count me in as a convert. We currently use an old cast iron radiator cover as a step. It is SOLID!

I use one of these: https://www.harborfreight.com/step-s...orm-66911.html Paid $19.99 on sale, and promptly cut 3" off each leg and riveted the braces and rubber feet back on. As a Scamper, I have a rivet gun and know how to use it! Before this I too had a wooden step that I flipped over to store stuff in while on the road but the folding aluminum step is much lighter and handier.

This is what I use. It's lasted me for 11 years. Aluminum Folding Step - Stromberg Carlson PA-100 - Steps - Camping World

It can be set to 3" or 8" which covers most situations.

Tim; I have the same step stool, bought it from Eastwood, I use it to get in and out of my pickup bed. It would be too tall for my trailers. Byron, that's a nice one too, the height adjustment is nice.

I use an exercise step. I've never actually used it for 'exercise'
