I'm wanting to change the rims on my 2 Trilliums, one is a 1978, other one a 79..Both are 5 lug..Was wondering if anyone knows what will fit?? I was wanting to go to a 14" or even 15" if they will fit inside the wheel well...What I'd like to know is if they are Ford patern Chevy or whatever..

Thanks Sooo much for any Info

Bolt pattern is Ford/Dodge. Ranger/Mazda or Dodge rims will fit. There is a concern about using these types (auto rims) as opposeed to trailer specific, so be forwarned....

Why such a concern on car rims...By the way a very nice trailer you got there, where did you get the rims you have? What size are they? Peter those pictured are 6 lug...How much were they from JC Whitney? Thanks again RANDY

Yes the one pictured is 6 lug. The 13" I purchased are 5 lug. The web site has them for $71.99 which included the centre cap.

Randy, I believe the concern over auto rims versus trailer rims has to do with how the rims bolt to the axle hub. Aparently they DO fit but someone more knowledgable about this concern will be better fit to give an acurate reason. The Trailer Goddess and I have been running them now for about 5 years, if that means anything to ya. The trailer rims are from American racing and are of the Torque Thrust family of rims. The rims on the trailer are a match for the rims on our T/V.!!!!

Dude, way to pimp out your rolling crib. Really though, what kind of rims do you have on your vehicle? Spinners? Do the vehicle rims go with the trailer rims? If you make the change, submit a picture of both vehicle and trailer together. I think they look really cool.

Has anybody ever ordered rims in Canada or can recommend any site in Canada. I see Ricks do not even offer to ship to Canada. I would like to get a nice set of rims for my 78 Trill and Canadian Tire just don't have them.

I noticed Candian Tire had some aluminium rims they were offering as an alternative to black steel wheels for snow tires. It occurred to me when I saw them they'd make a nice trailer wheel. They are similar to the JC Whitney wheel mentioned before.

yup, I looked at them but they are only available in 15 and 16 inch.

THey don't even make a plastic hubcap that doesn't look like crap for 13 inch

In the Document section you can access the page for Axles and Running Gear. Now pull down the page for the Stud Spacing chart. Print this and mark the studs that match yours.[ Probably 4 1/2"] Measure the offset on your wheels and you're ready to go shopping.

I don't really understand this completely, but the issue is something like that car rims are hub centric and trailer rims are lug centric --- or something like that? It sounds like it would be important, but I don't know enough about it to say for sure. (If I understood it better I would probably remember it!)

Could someone elaborate? Also, it would be interesting to know what the danger or wear problem is when substituting one for the other.

HUB CENTRIC

Definition: A wheel that is centered or located on the hub by a machined center hole-as opposed to "lug centered" wheels that are located by the position of the lug nuts alone.

What this means is that when you put the rim on the car, there is a raised lip on the center area of the brake drum or rotor. That raised lip is a perfect fit inside the center opening of the factory wheel. That is what centers the wheel up when you mount them. A lot of other cars are not hub centric, so when you simply tighten up the lugs, the wheel gets centered automatically.

Now when you get an after market wheel, the center hole on that wheel is most likely to be larger than the raised lip, so when you tighten down the wheel, it may not be centered. This is why several people with after market rims have cars that vibrate all the time (and the guys at the tire shop keep saying the wheels are balanced).

In order to cure the problem, you need to get "hub adapters" They are simply metal or plastic rings that fit into the center hole of the rim so that when you mount them, the wheel gets centered.

Well I went to my neighbor hood junk yard and bought (9) 15" Ford ranger rims for $15 each, then bought treaded studs and replaced the lug bolt with a lug stud, when I tried to put the wheels on the center hub was bigger than the center hole in the Ranger rims so I took them to a local machine shop and they milled the hole out to fit perfect and I am very pleased with the results..The machine shop charged me $5.00 per rim but only because he's a freind of mine I'll post pictures tommorrow...........
