I used Interlux Brightside Polyurethane The paint is Bristol Beige single part enamel marine paint. No real problems, just our inexperience in application, but a few youtube videos on the "roll and tip" method got us going in the right direction. We started on the roof to practice in a less noticeable area. There are a couple of bugs in the paint which I will try to polish out when it really hardens up. A light sanding and second coat should really finish it off nicely. Love the shine this paint has. One quart almost did the whole trailer. It is a bit pricey at $49 a quart. Paint was thinned 10% with recommended thinner for application on hot summer days.

That's an excellent result Mike. I have a '76 Trillium that is gonna require a complete 're-do' inside & out. I've no qualms abut attempting the 're-build' part as I've 're-hab'd' several campers. My personal nemesis is finishing (paint, varnish, etc.) . The ones I've done always turned out pretty well but I never feel comfortable starting that job. I've watched a couple of the 'roll'n tip' videos but still am hesitant . Oh well, I've probably got a few months (at least) to consider that while re-doing the physical parts...

Again, congrats on a very nice Trillium paint job!

2 People working together works real good. You should roll small areas and tip, roll, tip.....if you go too big the edge starts to dry and you can see the edge. We got most of it figured out while doing the top. It is still going to take another coat since we changed colors. We broke up the job into four sections along natural lines in the camper (roof, between roof and belly band, between belly band and orange stripe and below stripe. Best of luck.

You are inspiring me, Mike! How fast does it dry, and were you able to stop and start without the demarcation line being obvious? I will be painting alone, so I might not be able to complete the entire camper at one time. How long did it take you?
I'm lovingthat beige instead of bright white, but if they have yellow, just might make mine a sunny color.

Pam, You can do it yourself. You have to plan it well and once you start you should continue to a good stopping point. Basically you need to keep a wet edge to avoid the demarcation line. We just looked for natural lines in the camper shell to start and stop on. For example we started at the door and went all the way around to the door again. The belly band and curve of the roof were the north/south boundaries of one of our painting sessions. Don't work in direct sunlight as this will dry the paint really quickly which could be a problem if you are working alone.

Brightsides doesn't really rub out. The gloss is in the outer layer paint. It also can't be wet sanded and buffed. It can't be over-coated with anything (or so Interlux says), though I am experimenting with re-coats on test pieces on my classic fiberglass boat. First few tests have failed, but I have two more to try. Will hopefully get at it within the next month. If both the next tests fail, all I can do is remove the paint right down to the fiberglass and do something different.

I am NOT a fan of Brightsides!
