Ron's Scamp 13 onging mods

A friend whose just converted all the lights in his boat to led kindly gave me a box of assorted led stuff, various leds, bases and a light meter. So it's time to get going with that mod.

Having an overhead shelf unit across the rear, I wanted to install a light in the center shining straight down on the table. I choose a s/s marine dome light. The led version was twice the price of the standard one. So I bought one of those large flat leds on ebay and installed it in the fixture.

The fixture has a concave interior so I made a small flat plate to stick the led on. Easy to do as the mounting point was already there. The convex glass lense seems to radiate the light and it looks like it'll do a good job of lighting up the table. No battery in the trailer so I'll wait till it warms up to get a night shot of it in action. One light down, 3 to go

Santa was good to me. Lots of other mods to work on. I've got my battery switch, volt meter panel to fabricate, the inverter to mount, and I picked up my $148.00 brakes from R&P. Quality looks good. By the time I get everything done it's bound to be Spring. Can't happen soon enough for me.

So to drag a old link up, How are the LED lights going?
I tried one of the flat ones like you shown and few others and one of mine strobes a few of them after being on.

Perfect all lights were changed to cheap leds and all are still (touch wood) working find, no problems or burnouts.

I really like the light fixture over the center of the table, so nice to have the center light shining on the table rather than the original side lights shinging sideways.
