I took T shaped aluminum and .125 thick Lexan (Lexan will NOT crack)and made a Clear Roof Vent Cover...

Looks Great Kevin! I want to replace my old & cruddy vent cover now.
From the photos, I take it that the lexan is bonded on top of the frame and sealed around the edges and in each screw hole.
2 Questions:
Is there any pitch to the lexan to allow any water runoff? Also is there any weatherstripping on the underside of the frame to vacilitate a seal?
Great Job & Great VIEW!

No pitch. Just crack the vent to get a slight angle.WEATHERSTRIPPING - I used 3M automotive double sided foam tape(1/16 thick) I put 2 layers down.

Turned out really cool Kevin.
Now you'll need one of those vent cover blinds on the inside or you'll be up at first light of day...

Great Job, I had to make one of these too, but I used wood for the frame and plexiglass. It worked in a pinch, but yours looks much better.

HI
I too wanted to be able fit my boler into my standard garage so I installed an aftermarket car sunroof. Works great and if needed I can take the whole glass out if I wanted allowing increased ventilation
Cheers

That is soooo cool!
It came out great!
You wouldn't happen to have a parts list would you!?
Was it "T" or "L" shaped aluminum? Did you connect the aluminum sides together somehow to make the frame?
Thanks,
Eric

Thanks Again!

Kevin-
I noticed in the first picture (from the top) that there are screws sticking our horizontally. Are these attached to the hinge. Also, how did you attach the open/close mechanism (window crank?). I've got a new to me 16' Scamp with a 22 x 16 (or so) "Jenn Air Escape Vent" that has no cover. It looks like they are $70+ online and if I could make a clear one (or even smoked to block some light) for less, that'd be a bonus.
Thanks for posting this. I would have never thought to have tried to do it myself.
