Scamp - 5 foot sewer hose - yikes!
I found out that only a 5 ft sewer hose will fit in the Scamp sewer holder. What do you all do? I bought a 20 ft one, and had to take it back because it would not fit the holder.
Is a 5 foot long hose really long enough to do the job??????????
Should I get a bucket and carry an extra hose??? Anyone doing that, or doing anything besides the 5 ft hose?
Thanks

I built a bumper for hose storage and for a little extra protection, it weighs 11# and works well for storage... I hope I don't need the extra protection anytime soon!

I went an easier way - 4" vinyl fence post attached to the rear bumper with stainless clamps. The end caps are from an RV parts store here in town.
I like floyd's extra protection solution better.
Here's the best picture I could find...

You should be able to fit a standard 10' hose in the Scamp 26" carrier. If you have the heavy duty hoses then that might be another story, though, since they don't compress as much.

I bought a 5 foot hose and no way would a 10 ft hose fit in there. I am looking into a cargo carrier to put on the back of my Scamp and may just carry an extra hose there. I plan to carry the 8X10 indoor outdoor carpet and other light stuff on the cargo carrier that might get the inside of the Scamp wet and dirtyl
Thanks for your input everyone.
Another Scamp improvement would be to give us Scamp owners a bigger sewer hose carrier.

I just use one of those round plastic 5 gallon buckets to coil it up in when I store it.

The stinky slinky tube on the front of my Scamp bugged me. Horrible looking thing on such a sleek looking trailer. I couldn't wait to remove it. I bought (and had welded on) a standard steel hollow RV bumper to the rear bumper of the Scamp. I did this before the fence post idea was mentioned. If I was to do it over, I'd go with a fence post, etc. Plenty of room for a really loooooong sewer hose. Or in the case of my Scamp, two sewer hoses.

Photos posted to the the Scamp Yahoo site of a holder using a square fence post. Looks great and love the way he came up with keeping the cap attached:

I just measured mine. It's 9' 3" extended (probably 10' if I tugged a little harder) and it fits nicely in my standard Scamp carrier with fittings on both ends. If yours is a heavier duty hose, it may not fit, but the one I have fits fine.

We put a fitting on the gray water that you attach a garden hose to. That way you can cram the slinky and the hose in the same hole.
