Several people have asked me about the modifications I've made to my Scamp door.
As many "later" models do, my door was covered with "rat fur." This was in bad shape due to age, leaking window and a bad warp which prevented a snug fit. I decided to try to correct the door problems, as well as "dress up" the look so the door could match my other interior customizations.
I've put together an illustrated step-by-step account of my repairs and mods to share with those who may be thinking about doing something about their own door "problems."
No doubt, there are other solutions out there, but I'm hoping this can be of help to some. The PDF file had to be broken into three parts for the upload here.
Cheers.

Robert Thanks for your excellent post. The illustrations are very well done and extremely helpful ! I have a 13 foot Uhaul with a lower door warp, although not as severe as yours was ( more like a 3/4 inch gap at the lower rear corner ). I would like to remedy this but until I read your post I really had no idea where to start. I am now " armed with knowledge and dangerous ". Thanks again. Lee

Sorry, what's a "sticky"?
If you're not able to open the PDF files, let me know and I'll send the collected version to you directly. (It's to big to post here, evidently...)

Sticky content refers to content published on a website, which has the purpose of getting a user to return to that particular website. Another words VERY good information that should be saved.

I'd like to put these in the Document Center in the same location as Con's writeup on fixing a Boler Aircraft door. Unfortuntely the Document Center upload is broken and I'm not certain when it's going to be fixed. When it is, these will be added Yvon Chayer's too!

WOW !!! Thanx, Robert, for this excellent tutorial. I'm sure at some point we'll need to work on our Scamp door too, so we're glad this post will be available in the Document Center (10-Q Donna!). Regards. L 'n D

Gad, I can't believe I forgot about this until Annie brought it up. I've just combined into one document and uploaded Robert's fantastic writeup into the Document Center. It may be a day or more before a mod/admin makes it visible to the membership.

I wish there was a "favorites list" that we could save some of these posts to. I finally have my house tile finished, phew, and I'm getting to rip apart my Scamp. Sometimes I happen upon these excellent posts that will be very helpful in what I want to do but I forget where I saw them. Maybe I just haven't accessed this feature, is there such a thing?

just drill four holes bolt on eyebolts one on each corner then pour hot water on the lower part of the door where it arcs then use a rachect type strap then just start tightening the strap till the door curves better then leave it over night, better if on a hot day in the sun all day then the door will keep its curve better it may take a few times but it does help
