screen door

In order to attempt to answer a question from "Anita" in a posting elsewhere

Here are some pictures of my "home made" screen door.

Love your door. Almost exactly like the one I built last year only ours locks into a full width door position when needed instead of bi-folding. We just couldn't get the bifold part to work consistently well. It kept binding. How did you do it?

Thanks for the comments.

I made the two frames out of hard wood. The corners are mitered and joined with biscuits and glue and nailed. Then clamped; the screen was installed at a local hardware store. Then the two sections were clamped together and the piano hinge installed.
The trailer was leveled and the frame stops aligned vertical with a level. So far no binding. The frame on the closet was copied from a standard Scamp screen door and the couch side frame also patterned after the factory version. The links on the earlier thread gave me a starting point.

Screen Door

Noel,
What an excellent job you did on the door. I am definitely going to give it a try. Great pictures. Thanks.

Screen on Trillium

For those who are carpenter-challenged, like myself, I bought a piece of nylon screening, measured size of door opening, sewed 1" hem on both sides. Glued three 1" squares of velcro on both sides of the inside door, and also on the piece of screening. Sewed rod pocket on top and bottom of screen. Fed elastic cord through the top and wood slat through bottom. Voila....very easy, removable screen. When not in use I roll it up and clothespin it to the top elastic.

Awning

Noel,
Just noticed you also have an awning that also looks "homemade".
I have been trying to figure out how to put one on my Casita without spending big $ for one. Just need something to keep the sun off, yours looks like it would do that. Can you give us some info on how you did it.

Anita

Love the screen door but...

I am kinda carpenter challenged. I think I'll go with the sewn version. Great ideas, thanks!
