On my older 2002 Casita
, when using the screen door, you had to slide a panel back to access the screen door latch. I took a piece of wire coat hanger and now use it to open the screen door from the inside.
1. Drill two 7/64 holes, one in the top of the screen door panel as shown and one in the latch handle also as shown.
2. Cut the wire coat hanger to 18" inserting one end in the top hole and then make a 90 degree angle at the bottom and insert into the hole you made in the latch handle. Then crimp the end up to make sure it stays in the latch handle.
3. At the very top, trim the wire to about 1 inch showing and put a tiny curly que in the end for your finger to press down on.
4. Cut a small notch in the slider door, to clear the hanger wire you installed.
Now you can use this wire to open the screen door without opening the sliding panel.
