AC shore Pwr

I "borrowed" pictures of your modification Greg as that is exactly what I want to do with mine and you gave me a good idea instead of just doing the basic shore power only mod.
tnx

You're quite welcome Mike. I think you'll like it, and the peace of mind that comes with having a good surge protector. Especially when you don't even have to remember to use it since it's always hooked up in the line.

I have done almost the exact thing that Greg did (GMTA!). In fact it was the first mod I did.

The Progressive Industries EMSHW30C Surge Protector is more than just a surge protector. One feature I found handy was a cut off when the voltage gets too low (primarily to protect A/C units). When I was at a site with bad power regulation last summer, and using my air conditioner, the PD unit shut the power off not once, but twice, when the voltage dropped too low to safely run the A/C.

However the shore power connector I bought is plastic and it would be easy to cross-thread it. I have to be careful when putting the plug on the camper. Other than that I love it... it even has the LED that lights up to let you know you have a connection to shore power. Then you go inside and look at the PD's display to make sure there is no problem with the electric supply.

Marinco (30ARVKIT) 30 Amp Detachable Power Conversion Kit

I bought the Marinco (30ARVKIT) 30 Amp Detachable Power Conversion Kit through Amazon. It worked great.

I've looked at both the kit and the power port as a stand-alone item. It seemed that the kit had a lot of unnecessary parts. Did you find all those parts useful or will I be okay with just the power port and the gasket that comes with it?

The only thing I didn't use was the metal box and wire crimp nut that goes on the box (whatever they are called. I needed the end for the cord anyway and it seemed ordering the kit made sure everything was compatible.

I did the same thing with our Parkliner right after we bought it. The hole was big enough for a mouse to crawl up the cord and into the trailer!

Good job.

I am planning on doing this conversion to our Lil Snoozy, but until then I use a stainless steel pot scrubber nestled in the mouse hole. The cord can be pulled through the pot scrubber for use, and the pot scrubber is left in the pocket to keep the critters out.

Although the Furrion conversion uses a smaller square plug and cover, if you order the 30 amp KIT, instead of individual parts, it will come with the backing plate that makes it easy to retrofit over the old mouse hole. I did that on my Escape and it turned out beautifully. Click image for larger version

I installed the Marinco Kit on our LiL Snoozy . They put the cord hatch on the front and we had leaks in heavy rain. This mod stopped that and any mice or insects entering. The original hole is just the right size for this kit.

I did similar to Save and Paula but I used hardware cloth fashioned into a little "plate" with a lipped edge. Covered it in cute vintage trailer duct tape and cut a little half moon shape in the bottom for power cord to feed through. Since I have a water heater in that cubbie, not much usable space for me anyway.
