Sliding step

It's time to retire my old rubbermaid step stool. The Flexco SMFP-1200 sliding step has a 2.5 inch drop. I am thinking of bolting two 4x6 wood pieces horizontally through the 2x4 steel frame member, on both sides of it to provide a place for the mounting bolts, which are 12 3/8" apart.

Has anyone else done this?

Did it work?

Did you install this?
If it works, I'd like to put one on mt 13ft 1970s Boler.

We have a 2000 31' Sunnybrook 5th wheel. Which steps work on a rig that old? Also, do the steps fold up and swing up inside the door opening?
