SMEV Kitchens to Die For....

For those doing remodeling, here's a link to a SMEV dream sheet of what's available "over there". Unfortunately I think that the sole supplier of SMEV in the U.S. is now Panther RV in WA. However, as SMEV is part of Dometic, we might see a better selection in the future.

I installed the SMEV M00911 cooker/sink combo in my Hunter and it's great!

I wished more manufactures would use these, thanks for the eye candy.

I'd love to score a SMEV recessed cooktop with the glass top. At $350 it ain't gonna happen.

SMEV does make some nice stuff, and I had looked into them when building my Escape. I do wish they would do some fold down glass covers like Dometic does. We have this with our Dometic combo unit, and the added flush counter space is often much appreciated when either the stove of sink is not in use.

That really is not too bad of price for a quality item. Where did you see the glass tops though, was it somewhere other than the combo units?

Last one I saw was on eBay.

Dometic/SMEV maintains a presence in Elkhart, IN for the sole purpose of supplying manufacturers with the Dometic/SMEV products. Unfortunately they don't seem to be interested in selling through RV dealers and are well known for the lack of spare parts available. When my local RV dealer needed a new glass top for a SMEV cooker, they sent him an entire cooker for the parts they needed.

Tri-State Surplus, while a great place for RV surplus, isn't a Dometic/SMEV dealer. The only one I am aware of is Panther RV in WA. Here is a link to their SMEV offerings:
They now show th glass topped combo $$$$$

Bob, THIS is the exact same unit I had Escape install into my trailer when it was built. It was sold as a Dometic unit only. This was 4 years ago though.

I am not sure what I paid, but not near that as an upgrade from standard, but I would say it is well worth it for what it offers. Compared to the cost of the trailer itself, it is not that big of an upgrade. Some choose to have A/C, but I chose this.

But WHY do the sinks need to be so SHALLOW. Gad, my coffee cup wouldn't fit in one of those. I hate splashing water all over when doing the dishes. I want a sink that's 12" deep, not 4... eye candy is one thing, practicality is another.

Donna,

While I agree a shallow sink may not be good with regards to splashback, I think that your 64 ounce, bicep-building, mega-coffee cup is not a fair measurement for a small trailer.

A sink for Donna...
BOHOLMEN Single-bowl inset sink - IKEA
I have put this IKEA sink in three different RV's and it's great. I would have put it in the Hunter, but there just wasn't enough space.

Donna it looks like they are deeper than 12" unless I am reading it wrong.
They seem to have a couple of different depths - 420mm/16" and 470mm/18.5" or at least I am assuming that the total depth would be the sink.

In Euro-Talk "Deep" often means front to back size. Here's the deepest in real sink depth:
SMEV 7307 Deep Sink, round stainless steel with Fold-down Faucet and Dark Glass Lid Camper Trailer RV

Dimensions: 7.8 inches Deep, 16.5 inches Round

A cup that size could double as the kitchen sink, no?
