It is difficult to give an exact amount of gain by hitting the panel)s) at 90° because some panels use glass covers that have a wider acceptance angle than others.
The gain I mentioned was done around 10:00AM, late December in Quartzsite, AZ. I was getting 2 amps from a single flat roof mounted panel, tilted it to the correct angle for Phoenix, AZ and it climbed to 8 amps, or a 4 fold increase. This is the worst case for a flat mounted panel as the sun is at the lowest angle on December 21. The gain obtained by tilting decreases as the the sun moves across the sky more directly overhead, peaking on June 21.
