Spring tinkering in full swing......

After a very long winter and a cold, cold spring, it's finally nice enough to again start tinkering with my Compact Jr which I bought last fall.

In the bed/dinette area I replaced the round table with a rectangular one. The round one was too wide to fit on the floor between the bunks so it would a pain to find a place to hide it at night when the bed was made up.

I also left the seat backs in the shed, as the pillows can double as seat backs when needed and I don't need a very wide bed as I'll be the only one sleeping in it.

Also replaced the brown curtains with something a little more colorful.

If you look close you can see a bungee rope at the front end of the roof screen. Some one here mentioned that a tensioned bungee around the screen area would help collect it when the top is lowered.

It really works!! No more getting on a step stool and tucking netting under the pop top.

Yep, the fish caught my eye too! Great job on the table and bungee mod. Anything and everything to make life easier, when you are out "roughing" it!

Is your top boot really made completely of screen material? Doesn't it get chilly at night?

Super nice! Love the fish. Where in the world did you find that nice table top?
You did a great job and I hope you enjoy your trip!

thanks for the nice comments, yes the top is all mesh....

I'm sure the original top material gave up the ghost many years ago. A previous owner put up this mesh.

It's not like tent window screening material, more like onion sack material.

Heavy duty, not fancy, but probably impervious to wetness and associated mold or mildew.

Not sure how warm or cold the nights will be as I haven't slept in Junior yet. But it's so easy to raise and lower the top in case of rain or cold that I don't see much problem for now.

Takes less than a minute to raise it and same time to lower it. After a season or two i'll have a better idea of what I'd like up there.

The table is a nice improvement. much lighter than the previous round table. Not sure what was originally in it for a table though. My new table came from a boat supply place. it's intended for a pontoon boat and was under $40.
