Starting from scratch

Hi! I just purchased a 13' Boler - not sure of the year - it has a flat roof. The door sticker is from Piccadilly RV in Brandon, Manitoba. I plan to restore it completely (I am self taught at everything I try so it doesn't always work out the way I envision). I've started gutting the trailer and some things are obvious to remove, others not so much. The tall closet has already come away from the interior wall on one side but it seems very much a part of the door frame so I'm not sure if I can or should remove the whole closet. The floor has a lot of rot - it is wooden and fiberglassed into the shell - any ideas of the best approach? I also can see some cracks in the trailer frame so I will be lifting the shell off - should I wait to fix the floor? The other big obstacle right now is how to get the insulation off the walls - it is glued tight... There are many places where water has leaked and mold has loosened the stuff but how have others gotten it off? Would a dremmel scraping tool be the thing? I anticipate many months to years of questions coming from me!

Congrats on your purchase. What you have there is one of the first 100 Bolers made in 1968. Depending on the extent of the cracks in the frame you may want to have a new frame made. The worst of the cracks usally happen under the front floor just in front of where it drops to the inner floor. The closet does hold the door wall in place and holds its shape. And it is also what gives the roof its strenght on that side. Taking the ensolite off is a real chore. Lots of scrapeing and then deciding on what to replace it with. I just did all of that with my 1971 Boler and replaced the ensolite with Reflextic insulation. My entire build took 4 months of evenings and weekends and I did take a week vacation time to get it ready for our St Malo Rally I co-host the 3rd weekend of August every year. I am still not finished, still have to decide on what to cover the reflextic insulation with and I want to replace the axle yet too.
