Sunset Magazine - Aug 2012

This month's Sunset has a feature on a couple who remodeled their 1960s Vintage Serro Scotty Highlander. It's not an FGRV, but "canned ham." However, it's great seeing a little trailer get the star treatment, even if most of the 5-page remodel was cleaning, redecorating, painting the interior a robin's egg blue. It came out quite nice.

When I read the quote, "When I saw the ad for ours, I knew I just had to see it, even though it was two hours away!" I had to laugh, Just TWO HOURS!?

By the way, an RV show in Santa Clara Ca two years ago, I saw Serro or some other company, reissued the Scotty in its original look in an attempt to capitalize on the retro fad. I wonder what became of it? My guess is it couldn't compete with the other stickies on a price/feature basis, but it sure was cute!

Regards,

Matt

Just got my issue - it is a 1960's Scotty HiLander. They did a great job of restoring it! Stylish Trailer Home - Sunset.com

Their story sounds like a parallel to the stories we read here about rehabbing the interior.

The story is very much like many seen here. Sunset writers are mostly freelance and Sunset will often buy something that appears to them to be unique.

What's wrong with me? Every time I see one of these restos I'm nuts with envy. Egg, Airstream, Sticky, it doesn't matter. Cars: Well, a restored '64 'Stang will bring tears to my eyes
Is this a baby boomer thing?

I am the same way! Guess we just appreciate beautiful things..................... My pictures are full of drool factors...... I now only keep it to vintage/glass travel trailers and their interiors. But of course if it's being towed by a vintage vehicle I save those too.
