Swamp Cooler

Has anyone used this little 12v air conditioner? If it works, it might solve some problems - small, portable and not a huge energy draw (for an A/C).

From using evaporative coolers in the past, I can tell you that mold CAN be an issue. Something you might consider.

This isn't an Air Conditioner... it's a "Evaporative Cooler".

For lack of a better definition, an air conditioner refrigerates and removes moisture for the air, an evaporative cooler puts slightly cooler & moist air back into the air and, as such, only works in dry climate conditions.

If you read the specifications it clearly tells you that it will dump up to a gallon of water back into your trailer overnight and, if you forget to empty it before getting underway, it may do that when you are travelling.

We had one of these on our Airstream many years ago, a total waste of money when not in the middle of a desert.

And, as mentioned above, they are a source of mold if not kept very, very, clean.

Won't work for you in Virginia. Those can be beneficial in places like the SW USA deserts.

Thanks all - I saw "12 volt", small footprint and a small current draw, and my head started spinning.

They only work in DRY/DRY climates. Like the desert.

I guess they call it a swamp cooler because it makes you trailer feel like a swamp:-)
