The inner destruction of Bean has begun!!

Well, here we go! Last weekend we removed the fridge and furnace. Decided the 2 burners are coming out, too.

Today I was able to: remove the wall covering, remove the wood ceiling panel that the Perris Pacer has, remove all doors, hardware, and trim around the door edges, rip out the carpet under the dinette. All this in only 2.5 hours!
I am stoked! It's really happening!

Eyed the front couch and started planning how I could make that into 2-person dinette, back to bed, and in each corner--2 removable storage columns that will hold a removable bunk for the dogs. Decided they need a place of their own at night-night time.

I am thoroughly enjoying seeing the "inner workings" of Bean!

Just remember this, they come apart a lot faster than they go back together.

No, I have faith in your project, but I just removed my belly band and probably just added another week to my very own project.

Awesome. Are you putting the wood ceiling back? That front bench sure is a funky shape! I was lucky that my Burro was pre-molded to suit a dinette in the front.

Yes, Jen, that bunk is going to be "fun" to work with! And it's glassed in---so a pain to take out and maybe fashion a new bench. Oh, well, I'll be bold as Raz says!

Greg---I'll send good thoughts your way so that belly band is a piece of cake for you!

GO FOR IT GIRL!!!!
True, it takes much more time to rebuild than tear down, but it's so much fun to make it you own
By the way Vickie - it IS possible to "re-fur" with only 2 hands! Not easy, but possible. Will post some pics in the next couple of days.

HAPPY DECORATING!

Bean's gone hollow!

Will you be adding some Reflectix or something?

Regards,

Matt

Looks like your trailer was in good shape to start with, will be interested to see your dinette for two. How long do you figure the work will take? Remember to always double your estimate ,that way you may be close

Have fun

Jen: we will replace the ceiling panel with another one. Robert Johans did that in the PP he did, and it looked really nice.

Vicki---can't wait to see your pictures!

Matt---yep, we'll put the relectix in, then probably a vinyl (something that doesn't hold on to dog hair!)

Ken---I was pleased to see how good everything looked when I took the wall covering, etc. off. We had some leaking water last year and I didn't know what I'd find underneath. No mold, mildew, etc!!!

As to how long it will take-----if I had the skill and knowledge up front---not too long. (I have plenty of time and Bean is in a 10 x 25 storage unit). BUT since I am learning as I go along, and since my husband works so stinkin much (DBA/DB2---has to do some of his work evenings, weekends, on call, etc. etc.) that will make it much longer. And we have different "project styles"---I'm more of a charge in and see what happens, he likes to think, and think and think about it.

I'm trusting 40 years of marriage can withstand this fun adventure!

@Matt or vickie, do you recommend Reflectix plus vinyl instead of a product that is all-in-one like Ensolite?

Luke,

I'm just being a follower and doing what many are doing! However, even given the choice I think I would prefer the 2 layers as opposed to one. For one thing, I think it will cover a lot of imperfections in the walls.

Hopefully, somebody with true knowledge will jump in on this for ya!

That's true Vickie, I was more thinking of the challenge of doing it one time, let alone twice! HOWEVER, we're driving thru Omaha next wkend en route to see our good friends in Lincoln, maybe I could drop the Boler off and you could practice putting it up on mine?! I'd be fine being the test camper in this case!!!

Very Funny! Seriously, I would be so nervous doing it for someone else---I'd go bonkers!

Think of it this way---doing it twice---you get to practice with the Reflectix and then do the final "show" one! Of course, the problem with that is sometimes my first try is BETTER than my second!!

Sorry I don't have the experience with ensolite to answer. One sheet of reflectix with padded vinyl still wants to sweat overnight around the upholstery, so I would want something more. I realize in small trailers every inch is precious.

Regards,

Matt

Hi Vickie! I look forward to seeing your progress and the final result. You did a fantastic job on the exterior, I'm sure the interior will be just as nice!
