I love before and after pictures! You were smart to take so many photos when it was in such sad shape. It looks so beautiful now, a very far cry from when you got it. Congrats and happy travels!

Thanks folks, 6 weeks start to finish .
we did the normal rv catalog looking and on a whim went to "wally world" and found every thing but the windows and rain gutter there at 1/4 of the cost.
one company wanted over $800.00 bucks for "one" window, geeezzzzs, were on a fixed income, heheh RTV is $8.00 bucks a tube and works great.......
will paint it come spring, right now i , ooops "we" got fish to catch

N-I-C-E!!!!! I see that you have removed your furnace and exhaust fan. I took mine out, too. Sure wish that my U-haul would someday look as good as yours.

I made a decision not to go with gas/lpg what ever as its just a big pane in the butt.
Besides where we are going to go 90% of the places have electricity and the few that don’t all allow generators.

I give my wife the credit making it look good, I just made some mods and some things work, she is the one who did "the making it livable".

you will do good , all it takes is time, thought and money, heheh

COOL! I see you mentioned replacing the windows and found out the cost of replacements Looking at the pictures I don't see anything wrong with them If you're going to paint the trailer, I'd suggest pulling them out and resealing with Butyl tape. You certainly don't want to be doing that AFTER the paint....at least not anytime soon.

Rehatched...it's a grand thing

I noticed that BBQ as well!

Could you post some more pictures of that showing how you did it? That's a truely spiffy repurposing!!!

Spoken like a fellow with a couple old tanks sitting in the garage...

How did you remove all the lichens? I had a bunch on the roof of our former Boler when we bought it. I ended up using a razor, which is rough on the gelcoat (I knew I'd be repainting anyway).

Gotta love the pictorals of resurrection that get posted here!

This whole "re hatch" is great ( everyone that does this does such great work! Sure glad we don't have to choose which one is best )

I just would sure like to have the details on * How* you did the BBQ Pictures and instructions Please ! I could trade some nice links about how to make a fire Pit using old tanks.....but their directions are not real clear on how to get them empty and cut.

Wonderful Job and Thanks for showing us.

What a great rebirthing! Pictures are worth a 1000 words. You did well!

Can't you take your tank to a place and have it purged? Would that get rid of the gas or just the air?

Ok, you asked for it !

just remember that the bbq pit is "unfinished" as it has been put on the back burner , so to speak, heheh.

just remember if ya make something like this "to not use it mounted on the trailer".

http://www.terry-g.net/u-haul/bbq-pit/bbq-pit.html

p.s., thanks for all the kind words about the "Cracked Egg"

Oh yes in asnwer to RE: How did you remove all the lichens? I had a bunch on the roof of our former Boler when we bought it. I ended up using a razor, which is rough on the gelcoat (I knew I'd be repainting anyway).

we used a high pressure washer along with "Fantastic" cleaner and some scrubbies , you know the spunges with a scratchie side.
came right off but yes i am going to repaint come spring.

Tollys Crack Cure worked for me to seal small cracks in the fiberglass (stress cracks) but doesn't make the crack invisible. I think when I want to get rid of the cracks completly I'll sand the whole thing down and do a re-paint and coat and see if that helps.

Lets put it this way, had i not made that statement and someone made a bbq pit and left it mounted and then started a fire in it , and just for grins lets say the fire got the fiberglass hot enough. ------------------

Bam!, there i go being blamed for someone elses mess up.
