OK, let me set the scene.
This scene has repeated it self several times
We're in the middle of our winter getaway in Calif. It's evening, Marilyn has retired for the evening. I'm sitting on the Blackberry researching the next days drive of the specs of some hotrod car I'll probably never own
A kind of cold sweat comes over me as I realize I didn't get my pjs out from under the dinette when I made the bed After thinking for a few minutes how this converstaion is gonna go and realizing Marilyn is about asleep I quietly say Marliyn, could you get up for a minute?
WHAT THE HELL FORGET YOUR DAMN PJS AGAIN? CAN'T YOU REMEMBER A DAMN THING? IF I WAS AS FORGETFUL AS YOU PROBABLY STARVE TO DEATH CAUSE GOD KNOWS YOUR COOKING WOULD KILL YOU. IF YOU HADN'T BEEN SITTING ON THAT DAMN BLACKBERRY TILL THE BATTERIES WENT DEAD YOU'D OF REALIZED YOU NEEDED YOUR PJS BEFORE I WAS ASLEEP! blah, blah, blah sorry dear,I finally survivied enough verbal assault that I was able to retrieve my pjs, REMAKE the bed. After one of these rants I decided that a different accesss to my pjs was necessary!

the lack of responce would indicate I misjudged the responce to my little story,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
It was nothing more than a lead in for the mod I planned for the rear dinette.
It was a joke!!!

I loved the story, Fred...didn't Marilyn get my " Attagirl!" telegram?
Francesca
P.S.
I advised her that the best way to train you would be to make you sleep outside if you ever do it again...

Hey Vic,around post #97 will explain what I did.
Not too much progress lately, have the front of the overhead fitted and the picture also shows the support for the front and a portion of a door opening. The front will only be mounted to the shelf brace, the top will just contact the ensolite. Pretty much just need to mount doors, clean and a few coats of urathane.
And, I have ANOTHER hole in the Boler, my PJs should fit in there!
The pic from inside shows the support I had to glas in on the right side of the hole cause the dinette bottom needed a lttle support there.

I made this box today to hold some of my clothing.
I've never seen drawer slides this long so don't know how
to install it other than some kind of channel.
Any Ideas appreciated.

I finished the rear overhead storage today so I thought I'd throw up some pictures. The goal was decent and I'm more than pleased with the result!
And strong, I hung my entire body weight (about 190) from the center of the unit so not worried about what we put up there. I will be making a small bracket that fits on the dowel and holds up the front inside of the shelf.
The under dinette clothes drawer is just about done, pics soon.
I'm thinking of sectioning 6 inches out of the counter to make for a longer headboard.
Also figgered a way to get the window cranks out of the rear side windows without removing and tearing the windows apart. Now need to find a supplier of new crank mechanisms,,,,

Fred,
You may want to look at Lee Valley Hardware (online) for the long drawer slides. They can be expensive, but they worked great for my deep drawers that I put in my 19' Escape. You may also want to refer to a post on the Escape Forum regarding the deep drawers: 19' Under-bed storage - Escape Trailer Owners Community
Hope this helps,
Bret

Bret, thanks for the responce on the slides. The other forum wouldn't let me see the pics so I went to Lee Valley online. Lots of slides but I didn't see any with more than 28 inch extension. I'm looking for something with about 40 inch extension,,,did I miss something?

Fred,
Try this link: Extra-Heavy-Duty Slides - Lee Valley Tools
They are Extra Heavy Duty (and extra heavy expensive), but they are the only ones that I have found that extend the length I needed, and will support the weight. I bought two sets of 36" slides, and they have worked great for our needs.
Good luck,
Bret

What an outstanding job! It looks like you've more than doubled the amt of usable space--and you can get to your jammies after a long night on the net. I can't wait to get all of the necessary fixes out of the way so I can start on my shelves. I'm probably looking at next year, but will save this thread for when I'm ready. Thanks for sharing and well documenting everything. Now go camping and enjoy it!

Fred, it's too late for you, since you've ordered the window cranks... but I keep thinking of Thomas Haney when he was building "Skimp" without a doubt the cheapest build of an all molded trailer I've seen.
He replaced all the window cranks on his Jalousie windows with PROPANE tank knobs. Got them for free or dang cheap at a local propane place. The cool part is they fit and were close to the windows instead of a "Z" which hung down.
Just something for others to consider when they're in the same position as you were/are....

Donna, I will look into the propane knobs.
I didn't actually need the cranks it was the mechanism
the crank mounts on that I needed. I was put onto the right place
by a couple of people over in the owners helping owners section.
Vintage trailer Supply
I have also figgered a way to change the mechanism without removing the window which I will post when I get and install the new ones.
I removed and disassembled the windows back when I polished them and it was a nightmare. Between breaking the rusted screws trying to get them out and keeping everything organized,,,didn't want to remove them again!!

Thanks for the kind words and yes we got storage!!
But lots more planned and being considered.
Right rear exterior hatch, changing the closet(again) storage and shelves at the front, a sort of overhead, under floor storage for the spare tire and the sewer pipe, lighting changes(both interior and exterior). Considering sectioning 6 inches out of the counter to give a wider headboard, axle is pretty tired,,,,,,just off the top of my head!
We spent 2.5 months in the Boler this past winter and plan on spending over 3 months in it this winter so camping in it this summer is not real high priority Besides,, my motorcycle and tent are stairing at me every time I walk by,,,

Thanks Bret, but too bulky 3/4 inch thick and the drawer with contents will only weigh about 15 lbs at most, too much $ for me anyway but thanks.
Think a simple tin channel and a drop down support leg on the end is gonna happen.

Well I finished the PJ drawer. I had a piece of thin steel bent and mounted it as a slide for the drawer. Still needs a drop down leg to support the end when the drawer is all the way out. Put a face plate on a good to go.
Still have good access to the dinette cubby to boot! Still contemplating an exterior access door to that area but will be using my own design not one of those boat hatch doors because I want to save the decal stripe on that side.

Saved me typing that again
These pictures show a 10 minute job including taking the pictures!!
WAY better than pulling and disassembling the windows to change the mechanisms.
1 push the screen up and pry it out from the bottom
2 remove the plastic trim around the crank
3 mark the top of the crank with the hacksaw
4 remove mount screws
5 saw through to frame
6 brake off with plier
7 file smooth
8 work mechanism out using crank , force and swears
9 install is reverse including swears
10 the small void where it was filed smooth is the only evidence
of modification.

Any specific "swears", or can we just wing it?
