thinking outside the box

I've seen a lot of restored campers here, but has anyone thought of removing the ensolite or carpeting off the walls, adhering furring strips and do something like birch plywood? For the curve at the top, just install cabinets all the way around.

Of course owners have all sorts of ideas. I have seen one that is like a wood cabin inside. But most people look how to get the weight down when remodeling. Not adding more weight. Of course what ever fits your fancy.

It's about making the trailer fit your needs. What will bring you the most pleasure when using it. Good luck!

Factory built Fiber Stream trailers did this from 1981 to 1986. They had the advantage of having straight vertical walls. Scamp and Casita vertical walls still have a tapered bow out to the center "Belly Band" so you'd have to taper either the furring strips (for straight walls) or the paneling (to follow the center bow).

A U-shaped upper storage cabinet around 3 sides of the front compartment replaces the smaller cabinet that ran only across the front in the older trailers, increasing storage. All upper cabinets return to using hinged doors, here and in the kitchen. With the curve between the “wall” and the “roof” covered by cabinetry, thin foam insulation and thin paneling (that can easily be curved around the vertical corner wall curves) is applied to the remaining wall surface to match the partition wall paneling. Insulation and white material are applied to the ceiling.

The Fiber Stream Company went out of business in 1986.
