The rock guard is redone and the belly band is removed. Thank you to everyone here for providing encouragement and support and lots of pictures to look at. A special thank you to Doug for letting me see what he had done and giving me his plastic guide. I am happy with the results.
The rock guard was a bit tricky. We used white ABS Sheeting that will probably get painted this
fall. We ended up cutting through the frame on one of the corner joints and then riveting 2" aluminum triangles onto the top corners, back and front. It was the only way to get the middle panel back in. Thanks to the guys at Metal Warehouse in Victoria for all there help and brain power. We think it looks pretty good. Compared to what was there it looks incredible.
The belly band was fun, but messy. I cut off the old one and left the metal plates in. Then I used long thread
fiberglass, followed by short thread, and finally Bondo. If you cannot remove hair from a sink drain stay away from long thread
fiberglass, it looks the same, thankfully the aroma is very different.
