Trim for table edge

I'm going to build a new dinette table for our Scamp. I will be started with a new piece of wood for the table top. The top will be covered with "brushed aluminum" finish formica but I'm not sure what to do to finish the edges. Any suggestions?

I supposed I could use a strip of the formica along the edge, but I would rather trim it with metal. I can't seem to find any trim in the 1/2" width needed.

You want Tee Moulding or Edge Banding. This should get you started.

You can also buy aluminum U channel that would do a better job of protecting the edge if you are going to be doing the dinette-to-bed conversion. It's going to be harder to install.

I am thinking that for the tight corner radius, you may need to have a tool or form to bend the metal without kinking. You'd probably need an edge with a tighter radius than planned to shape against. It will relax a little, so you'd want to over-form, but not kink it.

Vintage Trailer Supply has aluminium trim to give a vintage look but it's larger than 1/2". Have you considered adding strips around the edge underneath the table to bolster it up. Then you could use one of these ...
