Turning bench into small dinette

I recently purchased a 1975 Boler, and would like to convert the front bench/bunks into a small dinette.
I like the thought of having the bed layed out all the time in the back, and I would never use the front as bunks.
Does anyone have any experience in this modification?
Thx,
Bev

Here are the results for "boler dinette" using the technique shown below.

How you do the mod will depend on how your front bench was made. One of the big factors is whether or not your floor extends forward below the front bench. There were many different design changes in this area over the years and by where your boler was made. You will have to compare the search results above with how your boler was made.

I'm amost certain it was manufactured in Canada....there's a crest-like plaquard on the front exterior, as well as a similar looking plaquette with VIN number.

I'll check to see if floor goes all the way forward to the skin.

Thx,
Bev

Beverly J, we are here to assist, but pics and more info is kinda needed to provide with our best "guess" for what you need or are asking. IMHO it's not so much Boler, but what you're trying to do... there are lots of folks of different brand types that have done exactly what you're asking about....

This is what I did in my Perris Pacer, which may be similar to your Boler.
The PO had already put in the A/C, but destroyed the bench in the process.
I used birch plywood, 2x2's, piano hinges and some trim. Simple, easy and looks pretty good too!

Beverly, It may help if you post some photos of your bench area so people can give you better input. Is your bench all fiberglass across the entire base, or is there an opening in the middle? My gf's boler had a gap (for porta potti_storage) in the center, so it was just a matter of removing the plywood insert that spanned across this opening under the cushions. Then she just installed the table and seat cushions.
I have a UHaul and was able to do the same thing. I've posted photos of mine. The first photo shows the original bench with folded down bunk (back cushion). You can see the opening under the cushion. I took off the bunk, and then made the dinette in that opening.

Pam,
That looks great!
I do not have the space open in the middle, It's one whole unit with 2 openings on the top to access inside bench storage.
I think I need to get over the fear of cutting into the bench to transform it into 2 smaller seats, with the new open area for a table.
You chose to use a round café style table, was that just because you preferred that style, or was there another reason?
