Twin Beds in the Spirit Deluxe

I got the twin bed mod finished last night. Still have valances and other things to make but they will have to wait until after the trip.

The cushion backs are pillow shams with pillows that can be stuffed behind backs, under knees... anywhere needed for comfort. They can also be used to store off season bedding or clothing if needed.

I have light brown rugs and runners to cover the table leg holes in the floor. Not sure what kind of table I'll build yet. I'm thinking about a drop side, but will wait and see how we use the space on our upcoming trip before I decide.

Anyway, here's what I've gotten done so far:

Sharon, I really like the fabrics. Light and bright. Too often I see colors that are too "heavy" for my taste... and it IS my taste I'm referring to... light and bright is more my style.

Mike, the rear bed is 29 inches and the small bed is 27 inches. I can pull it out a little to give me 28" of elbow room. We had 28" beds in the Aliner and were very comfortable on them.

Donna, I originally wanted to do it in red! Then I started looking at fabrics and decided that just wouldn't work.

I wanted to make some bright coral throw pillows and maybe a wall accent with a little coral in it. But the more I look at the neutrals, the more I like them. I'll decide after this trip if I still want to add the coral.

I am packing tonight. It is an adventure trying to figure out where to pack things in a new camper!

very nice, sharon! i like the neutrals...you can make changes easily by adding in a simple accent colour, if you get tired of neutral down the road---but it seems fresh and clean and i love it! good work.

It makes me think of the furniture for a screened-in porch. Like you could hang some wind chimes in there! Really great. If I ever got a Casita I would want it to look like that, all ready for relaxation.

Theresa and Mike, it feels clean and airy and light in it! The feeling of a screened in porch is a good comparison. Hmmm... now to decide where to hang the wind chimes!

We are Wallydocking for the first time ever tonight... just so we could check that block off and say we did it. Kind of cool having a self-contained camper!

Sharon, I love your twin bed mode. Casita should follow this one and build them. Really beautiful, plus practical.

Wow - love the look - what did you use for cushions? They look so sturdy.

Claire, I used a Walmart's 6" Spa Sensations mattress cut to fit for the two beds, and I used 5" foam from The Foam Factory for the dinette cushions.

The 5" dinette cushions are a little bit too high for us, so if I were doing it again, I would use 4" for them.

Great job, Sharon.

I was looking at the Casita factory's site the other day and was shocked at the current fabric they are using. Bold and a little garish for my taste.

I sure like your fabic much better. Nice look.

Thanks, Joy. I am a little surprised at the fabric Casita uses now. It seems like it would be very difficult to decorate around if you wanted to add your own touches. Especially if you had a Freedom with the Captain's chairs, since that can't be easily changed.

I like the light, more neutral pattern they used in the earlier trailers better.

Thanks, Shelly!

I found a gorgeous plant stand at a thrift store yesterday. I had several ideas about what kind of table I wanted to build, but when I saw that plant stand and recognized what a gorgeous little table it would make, I knew that was IT!

I'll try to get photos up in a few days.

Looking forward to seeing what you come up with. I am always in aww of those who can sew and sew well. You can do so many things for a camper to doll it up if you can sew.
