U-Haul CT13 Fan Replacement

Okay, the fan is out! Leaving behind a fairly clean hole considering the rust inside.

Now the question is what should I do with the hole/space. Some of the suggestions have been to:
Make and install a smaller fan
Put in a window
Close it up

I would love to get your opinions.

You could put a back splash piece of stainless steel on the inside and put a (fake) louvered vent on the outside.

Or install a small computer fan in a little box as others have done.

Rust falling down on the cooktop and maybe into the food was a major reason to remove the stove hood with a fan and a very weak light. It was also noisy and an electricity drain.

Now I have an opportunity to do something creative.

someone just recently posted one he did. used two ten dollar computer fans and a switch from radio shack. built i nice little inclosure. it looked pretty nice. wish i could remember where it was posted.

Mouse, Sounds like you have a lot of creative thinkers here to help. Looks bigger without the range hood.
Can you tell us about the sink faucet I see in the photo? It looks so nice and doesn't look like a hand pump. Thanks

The faucet was added by the previous owner. I think he did a good job. The left side turns on the water from the tank when you have the pump going and the right works when you have a water hose connected.

I took a lot of your input and came up with a solution that did not require repairing the hole or having to enlarge it!

I used computer fans (thank you for the suggestion). But since I didn't want to cut a bigger hole and I wanted to keep as much space as possible, I used very small fans. They are 60mm x 60mm x 25mm. I found them at Fry's. They are very quiet and draw very little power. On the other side, they move much less air than their larger cousins.

Tomorrow I will finish the wiring and pick up the vent for the outside from West Marine!

Brooke, IMHO you were wise to add fans back in. Moisture is the bane of fiberglass trailers. Nothing worse than water running down the windows and walls. Now, if you chose to boil pasta... you know the moisture will go out instead of stay in Seems win-win to me.

You will want to put the slotted vent back onto the outside of the trailer to keep water from migrating into the shell areas, and keep the fans dry also. (you probably have already done that, so sorry if I'm stating the obvious.
Someone mentioned that if they used the fans for cooking, they put a grease filter over them, and then remove it when not cooking. Good job on the fan install! Where did you put the switch?

I like it! You can probably remove the residual rust from the old vent on the under surface with a solution of Iron Out. Wear rubber gloves and provide ventilation - oh I guess you have that now.
