UHaul CT13 Undersink Cabinet w/ Shelves

MY CT13 didn't come with a cabinet liner and I found the under sink area to be ugly and inefficient. I decided to make my own liner with shelves that would be easily removable so I can access the hoses and connections that live in that area.

I looked around for some kind of a ready made insert and found this Itso modular cube at Target - just the right size and it comes with various shelves and insert drawers.

Just one problem - there is interference with the wheel well in the back left corner, so I needed to trim off the corner. But how to do it so it didn't look like a hack job? I made a duplicate cube from cardboard, cut the corner off roughly, then added back the needed contour with cardboard scraps and duct tape. Once I had the exact right shape, I transferred the cut to the plastic cube.

Nice idea! I have the same problem with my Burro. Could you post a picture of how the cube looks installed?

Next I needed to mount the cabinet so it would be easily removable. I attached an aluminum carpet trim corner to the front edge of the cube with small pieces of wood to capture the cabinet lip. The rear left side sits on the wheelwell, but the right side needed support. I added a short length of plastic pipe to support that corner. Using a hole saw, I cut a wooden disc the diameter of the inside of the pipe, inserted it in the pipe, secured it with screws and screwed the pipe to the corner from inside the cube.

I also added some extra window flocking to the corner to trim it out.

Finally, I got some edge trim from JC Whitney, and ran it around the raw fiberglass edge of the cabinet. In the latch area, I trimmed off the back so the latch still works. Due to the wheel well, I had to shorten the left drawer. I cut it with a utility knife and "welded" it back together with a soldering gun.

Thanks for the kind words. We shall see how it works out - may need a little finessing.

Nice job, drawers and shelves are nice. I'll consider doing that, but with our liner and water tank removed I can shove long items into that space, such as lantern stand and beach umbrella. It's nice to have things organized, but sometimes stuffing it all into the available space works too. Then it's dig through til you find what you want. Thanks for the info & pictures.

Great job Tom. You have much more room without the liners.
