Is this something that can be permanently mounted? My 5ver has an antennae, but sitting in my driveway at home I get no reception. I'd like to remove mine and replace it with something like this.

If you have a ladder on your rig, my post here

shows an antenna mounting idea.

Thanks for clearing that up Timber Wolf!!

No worries in any case. I am OK even if we bluntly disagree. I readily admit my mistakes too. I am more interested in sharing information and learning from others. An open mind is a wonderful thing.

These ratings are confiusing on Amazon. I typically look at the 1 star ratings and try to glean some facts out of them. For example looking at AC powered water distillers. It turns out that if you run them dry they have problems. One fellow figured out how to use a timer to correct a manufacturers defect.

As for TV antennas. I don't favor amplified antennas. When the pre-amp craps out, the gain goes way down. Larger non amplified antennas don't have that problem. Many of these amplified antennas get a mix of great and poor reviews. Could it be some have bad pre-amps ? Gas FET pre-amp have low noise and high gain. But they are also very sensitive to electro-static discharges. Walking along a carpet in sock feet can kill one of these.

In any event I believe the ClearStream is amplified. If it ever craps out don't toss it. Get it fixed or at least bypass the pre-amp.

Unbelievable RV Antenna

Antennas Direct DB4E Antenna

This is what I put on our roof as a backup to cable. I pulled in 76 channels. Some duplicates. Some were music audio only stations. Eliminating the foreign language stations and home shopping stations. I really only like five of these station. It was similar to 1970 only in HD for the top three stations.

No amplification.

The DB8 is best if the nearest station is many miles away over 60 miles.

Height is a also big factor in improving signal strength. The painters pole attached to a RV ladder trick is a good one.
